Overthinking is commonplace in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The effect of overthinking is often debilitating when one dwells on or worries about the same things over and over again. It is often described as not being able to shut down their brain, wishing they could just file all the files in their head, or wanting to stop the overanalysing of every single thought, process, and circumstance.

The Fish Tank Concept was born, like many for Dr Michelle Curran, in working with patients on a daily basis to help them overcome the barriers to living their best life. Dr Shell often finds that many “textbook” interventions are less than helpful or do not work in the real world. This concept is designed to be a tool, that combined cognitive and visualisation processes, allows the individual to be able to stop overthinking long enough, to be able to put in place other effective interventions.
