The Boring Stuff

I am a Clinical Psychologist who practices on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia. I am often asked which came first, my children’s diagnoses or my work with individuals with differences (Autism Spectrum Disorder). To be honest with you, I do not remember, know, or really think that it matters. I did learn a lot from the text books (and yes there were far too many), I have had the fortune of learning a great deal from my esteemed colleagues (and I am fortunate that they imparted knowledge on me), I have learned so much from my own children, who honestly have been kind enough (which I say as they really do not have to share) to provide me with intense daily learning of how they think, of why I really need to learn to not be so “neurotypical” (yes I frustrate them as much as you can get frustrated by your neurodiverse individual), but the main things I have learned are from being a human being on this earth. I have learned everyday by interacting with other human beings, by being open to learning about their journey, and taking on my journey of life those little seemingly insignificant life lessons that we get from every interaction, every experience, and every wonder that this great life gives us.
